Mark Gardener co-founded and fronted the band Ride, the Oxford, UK outfit that would help spearhead the “shoegazer” movement of the late 80s/early 90s and influence artists for years to come. “These Beautiful Ghosts” is Gardener’s solo debut and much like Ride, Gardener’s “Ghosts” proves both textural and seductive, but there is an intimacy embraced in the 12 songs that is undeniable.
