All Things Guggenheim Grotto - Latest News

This Thursday, November 2 tune in to hear The Guggenheim Grotto's "Vertigo" play in full-length on Six Degrees, the new ABC hit TV show from the producers of Lost and Alias. The series follows six very different New Yorkers as they go about their lives, but a mysterious web of coincidences gradually draws them closer, changing the course of their lives forever. Catch the episode at 10 p.m. EST. "Vertigo" will play about halfway through.

In news of the tour...

The boys from Dublin safely arrived on these shores and have already traveled a few thousand miles in a sporty RV. For them the road has been cluttered with interviews, on-airs and relationship building in almost every market along the way.

The trio kicked off in Boston at the Lizard Lounge and headed swiftly to their next stop in New York City, where they taped an in-studio session at WFUV for The Whole Wide World with Rita Houston, which aired last Friday night and will be rebroadcast on November 21st at 9 p.m. You can also click here to listen to the session. With only one night in NYC, TGG put on a much anticipated performance at Joe's Pub and spent some time with their good friends from UFO and Ryko, before heading off all too soon for the city of brotherly love.

Since then, The Guggenheim Grotto has recorded a World Caf?© session with David Dye in Philadelphia (scheduled to air Wednesday, November 8 The World Cafe with David Dye can be heard on nearly 200 stations nationwide. You can find your local station by visiting WorldCafe.org, or you can listen online to the WXPN/Philadelphia stream at XPN.org on Wednesday, November 8 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM EST) before rocking the World Cafe Live theater, wowed the crowds in Vienna, Virginia after a session and interview at WCNR 106.1 The Corner with Brad Savage, taped a podcast with the people at Paste Magazine in Atlanta and performed at the renowned Mountain Stage radio/TV show in Charleston, West Virginia which will be syndicated on 180 cable stations air dates TBA.

Moving away from the east coast, the band played an October 24 in-studio at WQKL in Ann Arbor, made friends with a nearly sold out audience in Cedar Rapids, IA and opened for bluegrass heroes Hot Buttered Rum in Denver.

Still, between gigs and radio appearances, the boys have managed to get a little taste of America-including getting lost in the Bronx and (even scarier) in Walmart, as well as discovering the joys of American dining at waffle houses along the road. If you'd like to see more, check out the band's photo diary here.

"So far the tour has been a wonderful experience. We've played in amazing venues to amazing audiences and seen far too much to make sense of it all," said Kevin. "We're already planning to come back in February."

As The Guggenheim Grotto approaches warm shores in California, and the fall winds blow colder in NYC, we at UFO only wish we could come along. Catch the end of band's tour if they're near your town.
