The Guggenheim Grotto 'Waltzing Alone...'
Boston Irish Reporter
Fans of Damien Rice, David Gray, Radiohead, Oasis, and even Sgt. Peppers will dig the Guggenheim Grotto, an artsy and rockish Irish three-piece whose music creates a sense of sculpture, or the song as a three-dimensional entity. The band makes tasteful use of the technological tools at their disposal and place the voices in front of absorbing layers of sound, from cello to the sound of what might be the running water and background noises of a household kitchen. The songs are adorned by Beatles-esque harmonies and lyrics that edge toward navel-gazing at times. Clean production, excellent musicianship, and well-written songs are the album's strengths.
