One-man jam band Zach Deputy heads to World Cafe

South Carolina-based guitarist and songwriter Zach Deputy will perform at World Caf? Live in Philadelphia on Friday, as part of a spring tour that, on this date, will have him opening for Philly favorite Mutlu.
The solo jam artist recently took Homegrown Radio Network?s (HGMN) Studio Album Of The Year award for his 2009 sophomore release, ?Sunshine? (United for Opportunity). The album peaked at No. 4 on the radio chart this past fall, and the award was determined via voting by fans and HGMN staff.
If that wasn?t enough, Deputy also took the network?s title of Road Warrior of the Year for his ongoing commitment to touring. Deputy logged close to 300 shows in 2009.
Although he has only been performing outside of his southeastern home region for two years, in that time he has developed a strong following from the Canadian Maritimes to Miami and from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mississippi River.
?Dance music for the soul? is what he calls his unique amalgamation of R&B, calypso, soul and hip-hop.

In addition to touring in support of ?Sunshine,? Deputy will release one new single every month this year while also unveiling a series of live downloads and a new merchandise line.
?I just want to keep playing and give the fans what they want,? he says, ?which is just more music and more good times.?
World Caf? Live is at 3025 Walnut St.
Show time: 8 p.m.
Tickets: $19 and $24 (in advance).
